Bought Bettafish yesterday after seeing a thread about them a few days ago. When my mom was alive she always talked about breeding Bettas, and it has stuck with me. Plus, I find them really beautiful and wouldn’t mind bettas becoming a new passion. I think it would help with the depression.
He is a crowntail and she is a veiltail. She isn’t very pretty, but was the sickly looking one so I took pitty.
We went around to Petco. Their selection was okay, but prices were just awful. Day afterwards, we went to petsmart which had way more beautiful happy looking fish with equipment for half of the price. UGH. Annoying.
Anyways, we found out that walmart has betta stuff. The Walmart by my house is fairly nice, brand new in fact. However; the condition of their bettas was…horrendous. There were several dead fish with mold growing on the bodies, fish with less than an inch of water, BROWN water in some of the cups….poor things. I bitched to the store manager a
ka politely asked to speak with her about my concerns, and told her about the abuse. She actually told me that should would personally see that it was fixed, but tried to blame the health of the fish on the vender they get them from. BULLSHIT.
Tomorrow I’ll be going to check on them, if nothing has changed I’ll be taking pictures and bringing them to the police department. (Good thing I work for them) They can and WILL slam them with an animal cruelty fine.
We shall see. I will suppress the urge to gather the troops and steal said fish by dumping them into one unit container, then go through the self scanner with many other items . So, 5 saved fish for the price of 1?
I’ll suppress idea this… for now.
